Specification : | USP and BP
Therapeutic Category : | Analgesic and Antitussive
Availability : | Production on demand
Details : | Hydrocodone is effective as antitussive and also used as analgesic. Hydrocodone is a more effective analgesic then codeine in acute musculoskeletal pain. Central nervous system side effects are less common with Hydrocodone than Codeine. |
Pholcodine
Empirical Formula : | C23 H30 N2 O4 H2 O
Specification : | IP, BP and EP
Therapeutic Category : | Analgesic and Antitussive
Availability : | Production on demand
Details : | Pholcodine has antitussive activity similar to, or somewhat greater than, that of Codein. Pholcodine appears to be devoid of addiction liability. In contrast to Codeine, Pholcodine is not metabolized to Morphine. Toxicity studies demonstrate a generally safer profile for Pholcodine than for Codeine. |
